How does insurance work if you want to see a Registered Dietitian?

Many plans will cover Nutrition Counseling 100%. Which means you pay NOTHING!

To ensure a smooth experience and avoid unexpected costs, it's important to verify your insurance coverage before your appointment with us. Follow this guide to check your insurance benefits:

Insurance Verification Guide:

  1. Call the Member Services Number: Call the member services number located on the back of your insurance card. This number is typically a toll-free 800 number.

  2. Speak with a Representative: Ask to speak with a representative to verify coverage for nutrition counseling. They may ask you to provide our NPI # for WebRD, which is 1497060123

  3. Verify Specific Coverage Details: Ask the representative the following key questions:

    • Do I have nutrition services included in my policy?

If the insurance company asks for a CPT code please provide them with the following codes: 97802 & 97803.

If they say you do not have coverage using those codes NEXT ask them to check your coverage for the following CPT codes: 99401, 99402, 99403 and 99404.

    • Will my diagnosis be covered ?

Use code below UNLESS we provide a specific code to use.

      Is diagnosis code Z71.3 covered?

If yes, is Z71.3 covered as preventative?

If no, what types of diagnoses are covered as preventative?

    • How many visits am I covered for per calendar term?

    • Do I have a deductible to pay before insurance pays? If so, how much and has it been met?

    • Do I have a copay or cost-share for nutrition counseling services? If so, how much?

  4. Document the Information: Write down the name of the representative, the date of your call, and any reference number for the call. Keep this information for your records in case there are discrepancies later.

What to Do if Insurance Does Not Cover the Visit

If your insurance does not cover the visit or if we are out-of-network, we offer a self-pay option. The self-pay rate is $225 for the initial consult and $110 for each follow-up visit. We are committed to providing you with clear and transparent pricing options.

Self-Pay Options

Forms of Payment: We accept cash, credit, Health Savings Accounts (HSA), and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA).

Location: Our headquarters is located in Roswell, Georgia, but we operate virtually, and see clients all over the Unites States!

Understand Out-of-Network Benefits

If you have insurance that we do not participate, you will need to pay for your counseling session at the time of service. We will provide you with a Superbill or an itemized invoice which you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Please verify how reimbursement works under your policy by calling your insurance company’s member services.

If you have any questions or need assistance with verifying your insurance, please don't hesitate to contact our office directly. We are here to help you navigate your benefits and ensure you receive the care you need.
